At Carnival this year you could hear the bass rattling the windows in shops, bars and peoples' homes all through Nottinghill.

The main culprit was the Radio 1Xtra truck kitted out with some serious bassbins and the new Urei club mixer. The Wattco and Poison collaboration responsible for the sound-system on the 1Xtra truck are notorious for the loudest bass at carnival and they had some Xtra help this year from the Urei. Robbie Barrow the sound engineer pictured monitoring his rack stack in the picture chose the 1603 as his dj mixer of choice for the truck. He needed to provide a mixer that was easy to use with professional features for radio 1Xtra's djs but more importantly that delivered a clean warm sound at the heart of the truck's system.

"Urei is notorious for their sound quality and it certainly delivered at carnival" said Robbie, "I especially like the 1603 because you can set up the gain structure to guarantee that you don't get any distortion from the djs. That means that i can leave the djs to it and catch up on some sleep on the truck!"

Let's hope he had his ear plugs!
